LRC talks to avert Aer Lingus strike to get underway today

Talks to avert further strike action at Aer Lingus will take place at the Labour Court today.

The dispute centres on a demand from cabin crew for a new rostering arrangement of five days on and three days off.

Management and IMPACT officials have agreed to attend the negotiations – after a breakdown in bilateral talks last week.

The union is planning 24-hour strikes next Monday and Wednesday – following a one day work stoppage last month.

The Transport Minister Leo Varadkar is urging IMPACT to suspend the threat of industrial action while the talks take place.
