Jury in Sean FitzPatrick trial sent away until next week.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring has sent the jury away until next Wednesday on the basis that an unforeseen illness is 'causing some serious timetable problems'.

The jury was sworn in over 3 weeks ago but no evidence has been heard since then.

The case has been in legal argument.

Some of the jurors made their own scheduling difficulties known – including the upcoming birth of a child, a holiday and a problem with an employer.

The jury is due back in court next Wednesday but Judge Ring told them she was being optimistic and to keep their phones on in case the date changes.

Former Anglo Irish Bank Chairman Sean FitzPatrick denies 27 charges relating to the disclosure of loans from Irish Nationwide Building Society between 2002 and 2007.
