Inquest into death of Tipperary man in on Kerry mountain

66 year old Pat O'Donoghue from College Avenue in Clonmel had climbed alone to the top of Carrauntoohil in July of last year – an inquest in Killarney has heard he died after a fall on the mountain.

Volunteers from Kerry Mountain Rescue recovered his body from a steep ledge near the top of the peak.

Terry Casey – the Coroner for Kerry South – said the volunteers deserved great thanks for putting their own lives at risk.
