Retail sales increased by more than 3 per cent in January compared to December.
They were up 8.8 per cent in annual figures.
The motor trade accounted for the largest month-on-month sales increases – up 4.5 per cent.
The sectors with the largest monthly decreases were Food Beverages and Tobacco, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics and Department Stores.
