IFA to examine pay and pensions to top officials

Mr Downey has apologised and admitted “mistakes were made” in the controversy over a half million Euro pay and pensions package given to the IFA's ex General Secretary Pat Smith in 2013.

The IFA's former Chief Economist Con Lucey is to conduct the review of remuneration and governance in the association.

IFA Deputy President Tim O'Leary will act as President while the inquiry's being carried out.
