Hundreds of houses needed to tackle Tipperary lists.

With thousands of people on the housing list in County Tipperary the urgent need to commence building local authority and social housing is being highlighted.

At present there are over two and a half thousand people on the list in the Premier County.

Local TD Seamus Healy says the lack of housing construction in recent years is putting huge pressure on Tipperary County Council.

The Independent Deputy says work needs to begin as soon as possible to alleviate what he described as a horrendous situation for the many families concerned.

He says in the region of 700 houses a year need to be built to tackle the problem in Tipperary.
