HIQA uncover risk to patients in number of centres

Significant risk to patients has been found at three residential centres for people with disabilities according to HIQA.

The Health watchdog has issued reports into 19 facilities across the country today including two in Tipperary – and found major non compliance amongst three of the seven Daughters of Charity centres reviewed.

HIQA says in one of these, fire safety risks – which had been identified in 2014 – remain an issue.

The two Tipperary centres that were inspected were found to have breeches in cleanliness and risk management and documentation.
