High trolley figures recorded in region today

Staff in South Tipp General in Clonmel have 20 patients waiting on trolleys and chairs this afternoon…the highest in the country outside the capital.

It's become something of a normal situation for Tipperary's emergency departments to suffer overcrowding on a daily basis; the University Hospital Limerick's numbers have decreased slightly today but there are still 12 people waiting for a bed.

Nationally, 221 people are being treated on trolleys or chairs according to the figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation
