Staff in South Tipp General in Clonmel have 20 patients waiting on trolleys and chairs this afternoon…the highest in the country outside the capital.
It's become something of a normal situation for Tipperary's emergency departments to suffer overcrowding on a daily basis; the University Hospital Limerick's numbers have decreased slightly today but there are still 12 people waiting for a bed.
Nationally, 221 people are being treated on trolleys or chairs according to the figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation
