High overcrowding in Tipp region today

60 patients are waiting for a bed at hospitals serving Tipperary this afternoon.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation report 43 people without a bed at University Hospital Limerick. The facility which covers North Tipperary is the most overcrowded in the country today.

Meanwhile there are 17 patients without a bed at South Tipp General.

Concerns have been expressed that the HSE's Winter Initiative has no concrete proposals for additional space at South Tipperary General Hospital.

In all 381 people are on trolleys in Emergency Departments and overflow areas of wards across the country today.
