Higgins to sign book of condolence for Castro

President Michael D Higgins is today expected to sign a book of condolence marking the death of Fidel Castro at the Cuban embassy in Dublin.

His office yesterday defended a statement he made about the former Cuban president and his legacy, saying any suggestion Mr Higgins 'neglected human rights concerns is unsustainable and unwarranted'.

Meanwhile celebrations have continued on the streets of Miami for the third consecutive night.

Thousands of people felt they had to flee Cuba's communist regime and settle in Florida, which is why some say they are pleased at the news of Castro's death.
