Help to Buy scheme up for revamp

Wide scale changes to the help to buy scheme are expected to be announced today.

The deal to get first time buyers on the property ladder has been accused of potentially hiking house prices.

Critics also say the scheme, which includes mortgages of up to 400-thousand Euro, would encourage people to take on too much debt.

Among the changes will be a decrease in the value of homes covered.

Sinn Fein's Pearse Doherty says we need to protect buyers and instead look at additional charges placed on builders.
