Emergency Department at UHL busiest in the country

Over 360 patients are without a bed at hospitals across the country today.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the top 2 most overcrowded hospitals today are South Tipp General and University Hospital Limerick.

South Tipp General in Clonmel has a total of 28 – 20 of these are on trolleys around the Emergency Department with another 8 in overflow areas.

At University Hospital Limerick which provides Emergency Department cover for North Tipp – there are 55 patients without a bed, which is the most overcrowded in the Country today.

Cork is reporting 23 patients without a bed this lunchtime and 25 in Waterford.
