The West Tipp representative was one of two Fine Gael representatives to lose out in the new unified Tipperary constituency.

With talks between the main parties and independents failing to reach agreement the likelihood of another election in May is growing.
However speaking on Tipp Today, Tom Hayes refused to be drawn on whether or not he would stand again.
