Guarded welcome for Thurles road funding

Extra funding has been secured for an extensive upgrade of one of Thurles' main access routes.

Work on Parnell Street is expected to get underway by the end of next month to resurface the road, as well as improve footpaths and lighting.

However it will mean rolling closures of the entire road for about four weeks which will significantly impact on traffic to and from Nenagh and Borrisoleigh.

Fianna Fail's John Hogan believes the solution is to carry out the works at night.
