The announcement, made by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn, will allow the schools to carry out essential electricity, gas and mechanical works during the summer months while the schools are on holidays.
Schools in Clonmel, Cahir, Thurles, Nenagh, Roscrea, Tipp town, Newport and Carrick-on-Suir are included in the scheme.
