Green light for Mid Tipp dump

Roadstone had been granted planning permission for the development near Holycross last October.

This decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanala.

The plans for Killough Hill, Gaile relate to what's described as a construction and demolition waste recovery facility.

This would entail the importation, processing and recovery of construction and demolition waste on a 1 hectare site within an existing quarry.

The material in question would be principally mixed concrete, bricks, blacktop, tiles, and ceramics.

It includes a hardstanding area for stockpiling and processing of waste materials and a waste inspection/quarantine shed

Roadstone Ltd was granted conditional approval by Tipperary County Council late last year following a lengthy planning process stretching back to December 2014.

A third party appeal was lodged with An Bord Pleanala for the development 4 kilometres from Holycross.

The concerns centred on traffic, air & noise pollution, environmental issues and devaluation of property.

However the state planning appeals board decided to uphold the granting of permission by Tipperary County Council but did impose revised conditions.
