Government funding for Animal Welfare groups doesn’t fully cover costs

Animal Welfare Groups across Tipperary say Government funding while very welcome is a mere drop in the ocean compared to their operating costs.

A total of €86,000 has been allocated between 7 organisations in the Premier County this week.

The funding ranges from €2,000 for Cappanagarrane Horse Rescue and Sanctuary in Thurles to €40,000 for PAWS Animal Rescue in Mullinahone.

Gina Hetherington from PAWS says the money will be put to very good use to meet the day-to-day costs of all of the groups.
