The Cathaoirleach of the Carrick Municipal District says it's essential upgrade work on Ormonde Castle is completed by the start of the 2017 tourism season.
Last week the OPW unveiled a €1.5 million plan for the historic site in the South Tipp town which is currently undergoing conservation work.
The idea is to position the Elizabethan manor which is the only non-fortified Tudor house still in existence as a key offering within Ireland's Ancient East
The conservation work is ongoing and Cathaoirleach Imelda Goldsboro says while its essential work, it needs to be finished by mid 2017.
