Go ahead for Roscrea shopping centre revamp

Plans for a major upgrade of the Old Tesco Site in Roscrea have been given the green light.

The proposals include the development of new retail units and a health care centre.

Earlier this month Tipperary County Council granted conditional planning permission for the development on Castle Street in Roscrea.

Mark Tiernan of TCORP Properties Limerick LTD is behind the proposal to revamp what was the old Tesco Anchor Unit at the shopping Centre.

It will involve a three-storey mixed-use development comprising demolition of external facades, roof structure and service yard of the old building while smaller retail units will be included at ground level while a health care centre will be spread out on the first and second floor.

The project- which has been in the planning process since May of last year also allows for other ancillary works including an external walkway.

Overall the development is likely to be widely welcomed locally- as part of efforts to boost employment in the North Tipp town.
