Officers found the body on the rocks at Aughinish, Kinvara on Sunday evening.
The unidentified man is described as between 50 and 70 years old, 5 foot 7 in height with reddish hair, receding hair line and blue eyes.

He was wearing blue Marks and Spencers pyjamas; a Grey v-neck jumper and pin striped trousers as well as a jacket with an Irish Action Autism badge.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Gort Garda station.
