Sinn Fein has again questioned the credibility of Nóirín O’Sullivan’s position as Garda Commissioner.
The party’s Justice spokesperson says the Policing Authority’s concern over the handling of financial irregularities at Templemore College must be taken seriously by the Government.
Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire says these criticisms show once again that An Garda Síochána is incapable of dealing appropriately with serious issues affecting the force.
Meanwhile, Garda Commissioner Noirin O Sullivan has been linked to a senior position in Europol.
The EUs law enforcement agency is recruiting in the area of senior operations with the post becoming available in November.
The Sunday Business Post reports that a garda spokesperson would not comment on speculation around the possible job offer for the Commissioner.
