Further reduction in numbers signing on in Tipperary

Latest figures from the CSO show that Tipperary's dole queues are continuing to decrease with over 1,500 less people signing on since April 2014.

The Central Statistics Office has today released the regional figures for the month of April and it's positive news for the Premier County.

Since March, 195 people have left the Live Register – the fourth consecutive month of falling numbers.

North Tipp had 109 less people signing on while in the South of the county the number fell by 86.

Thurles had the largest drop with 71 people leaving the dole queues, while Tipp Town, Cahir and Carrick on Suir all fell by 25.

Nenagh and Roscrea both had a decrease of 19; Cashel's numbers went down by 17 while Clonmel had the smallest decline of 6 people.

The figures from the CSO also show a marked contrast in the county's employment fortunes this April compared to last with the number of people claiming some form of unemployment benefit in Tipperary down 1,574 on this time last year.
