Further details of O’Brien High Court ruling due

Lawyers for the businessman and RTE argued in court yesterday over which parts of the temporary injunction ruling can be published.

The judge in the case, Mr Justice Donald Binchy, also said his ruling never intended to restrain TDs from making comments in the Dáil, nor to prevent the reporting of them.

In the wake of his statements media outlets published Deputy Catherine Murphy’s comments – made under Dáil privilege – that Denis O Brien enjoyed what she called favourable interest rates of 1.25 percent on expired loans with IBRC.

However, Mr O'Brien insists that the information put before the Dáil is wrong.
