Five members of one family killed in a tragic accident.

In the car were Sean McGrotty, his children 12 year old Mark and 8 year old Evan, along with their grandmother Ruth Daniels and her daughter Jodi-Lee Daniels.

Mr McGrotty's 4 month old daughter was the only survivor, rescued by a passer by who swam out to try to help the family.

The funeral of the five relatives takes place this afternoon at the Holy Family Church in Ballymagroarty, in their home town of Derry.

Parish Priest Fr Paddy O'Kane has said that he'll speak about the bravery of Sean McGrotty in his homily.

He also intends to praise the bravery of Davitt Walsh, the man who saved the young baby – an act which Fr O'Kane says provides some sliver of hope in this tragic story.
