Minister Denis Naughten is also being urged to intervene and prevent the closure of the fish farm in Roscrea from going ahead.
In April Inland Fisheries Ireland announced its intention to phase out its fish farming operation in Roscrea over the coming years along with hatcheries in West Cork, Mayo and Westmeath.
Reduced resources were blamed for the move with a decision instead to concentrate on the conservation, protection and development of Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources.
The seven staff at the North Tipp farm have been told there will be no compulsory redundancy.
However Tipperary Fianna Fail TD Jackie Cahill says the closure of the Roscrea fish farm is a retrograde step as it will impact badly on the health and volume of trout stocks.
Recreational angling is valued at €755 million to the Irish economy each year while the sector is responsible for more than 10,000 jobs.
Deputy Cahill says decisions like these cannot be taken in isolation and is calling on the Minister to intervene and suspend the decision until a proper study can be carried out.
