Former GAA President confident for future of Hayes Hotel.

Ireland South MEP and former GAA president Sean Kelly believes the new owner of the Hayes hotel in Thurles understands its historical significance.

The GAA was founded at the hotel in 1884 and it's regarded as a building of historical significance.

The new owner, 27 year old Jack Halley from Fethard, bought the hotel at auction this week and the European representative believes he would better appreciate its landmark importance.

The Fine Gael MEP says the businessman will also understand the commercial value of preserving the hotel’s history.
