Flood relief funds for Tipperary

Following his recent visit to the county OPW Minister Sean Canney has cleared the way for the funding needed for works in Kilsheelan, Clogheen and Newcastle.

The areas were among the many across the country hit by flooding last winter.

Over €21,000 will go towards works in Newcastle, €45,000 for a project at Ballinahalla near Clogheen while the Cloughcarrigeen Estate in Kilsheelan will have €63,000 spent in a bid to prevent future flooding.

Deputy Mattie McGrath has praised the efforts of the people hit by the flooding but says it's vital that Tipperary County Council get started on these works as soon as possible.
