Carrick on Suir County Councillor Kieran Bourke has submitted an application to rejoin Fianna Fail having resigned ahead of the local elections in 2014 when he failed to secure the party nomination.
He was subsequently elected to Tipperary County Council as an independent.
The 10 Fianna Fail Councillors on the local authority will meet in Thurles under the chairmanship of party whip Roger Kennedy to decide on the matter.
Councillor Bourke was co-opted onto Carrick on Suir Town Council in 2008 following the death of his uncle Dinny.
