Feast of parades planned for the Premier County

The finishing touches are being put to St Patrick's Day Parade preparations across Tipperary.

Events are taking place in villages and towns across the length and breadth of the county with organising committees working for months on the projects.

Clonmel's parade gets underway at 3.30 in Irishtown and will go through the town before passing the reviewing stand at the Town Hall. According to Mayor of the Borough District Martin Lonergan this year’s event will have a special display from the Clonmel Show Society to mark their 150th anniversary.

Now in its 37th year the Roscrea parade gets underway at 3 o'clock. There are 28 floats already confirmed for the event but according to one of the organisers – Steve Crofton – it it's still not too late to take part as they can turn up at the parade start on the Old Dublin road.

The Templemore parade assembles at the Thurles Road junction at 12.30 and will make its way past the reviewing stand at the Town Hall. Michael O'Brien says there's something for everyone in this year’s event including a shop window display competition.

It's been a busy time for those involved in organising the Tipp Town parade according to Paula Maher where they get proceedings underway at 2.30 on the Limerick Road before making its way to Main Street while in Cahir the parade starts at 12.30 from the Tipperary Road.

Shop Local is the theme of this years St Patricks Day Parade in Nenagh which starts at 2 o'clock – according to Hughie McGrath the also have entertainment planned for afterwards.

Sean Laffey is part of the 3-strong organising committee for the Cashel Parade – he says they also have post-parade entertainment planned on the Plaza

Olive Foley is one of the organisers of the Pink Ribbon Walk in Ballina – Killaloe where they'll be taking part in the parade there which gets underway from 2.30 at the Riverside Park.
