Fears over some Aer Lingus routes from Shannon.

It's reported that Stobart Air – which operates Aer Lingus Regional at Shannon Airport – is reviewing its operations in the Mid West.

This could lead to the closure of its base at the airport- with claims staff are being offered the chance to relocated to Dublin but its not known if this will affect the company's flights from the region.

Last month Stobart Air – which has operated Aer Lingus Regional flights since March stated passenger numbers from Shannon had increased by 43 per cent- with a large proportion coming from the catchment area of North Tipperary, Clare and Limerick

However the airline now says it is reviewing its operations out of the Mid West Airport.

Between January and September, Aer Lingus Regional flew over 111,000 passengers through Shannon but the company had targeted a total of 200,000 passengers for all of this year- Last month it ended its Shannon-Manchester service on the same week that Ryanair began operations on the same route.

In a statement the firm says full details of their 2015 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks while a Shannon Airport spokesperson said it’s engaged in ongoing discussions with Stobart Air.
