Fears of more job losses at Gleeson’s in Borrisoleigh.

Tipp Fm understands that staff attached to the commercial arm of Borrisoleigh based firm were called into a meeting with management last night and informed the company is seeking up to ten redundancies

This is the latest body blow to Gleeson’s which manufacture Tipperary water, among other products, since its takeover by drinks giant C&C- which also operates Bulmers in Clonmel.

In August it shed 31 jobs from manufacturing at the Mid Tipp site citing the loss of contracts from major supermarket chains in Ireland as the reason; in July C&C announced redundancies across admin and sales at its various depots in Tipp, Dublin, Galway and the Midlands while most of Gleeson's logistics were outsourced to Lucy Transport – resulting in 12 driver cuts.

Earlier this month the threat of strike action at Gleesons was averted after staff accepted an enhanced redundancy deal offered by C&C.
