Family of shooting victim pay tribute to slain Garda

She was critically injured in Sunday's shooting in Omeath, Co Louth, in which Garda Golden was shot dead during a domestic incident at her home.

In a statement, Siobhan Phillip's parents have paid tribute to the Garda saying they are forever in his debt and she's still fighting for her life in hospital.

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, says the death of Garda Golden is an unspeakable crime, as he'll be laid to rest tomorrow following funeral mass in Co Louth.

Meanwhile, the Dáil and Seanad will not sit tomorrow due to the State funeral for Garda Tony Golden.

Both houses of the Oireachtas took the decision this morning.

It has also been decided that all committee meetings have also been cancelled as a mark of respect.
