Efforts to cut red tape around taking estates in charge

The existing process is long and protracted leaving many families stuck in poorly finished developments both here in the Premier and around the country.

Among the difficulties is the need for a valid taking in charge applications which some homeowners aren't in a position to submit as it requires over 50 percent of the homeowners within the estate even if it’s half empty.

Fine Gael Councillor Michael Murphy hopes his amendment which removes the 50 percent requirement will be adopted into law given changes to current planning legislation are going through the Dail
