Education Minister hopes teacher unions will engage with her department.

Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan says she's hopeful teaching unions will see the latest plan for Junior Cert reform is fair.

The executive councils of the ASTI and TUI are meeting today to decide if they'll accept the compromise plan put forward by Dr. Pauric Travers.

It would see the junior cycle split into two parts and graded separately, with one section marked by the State Examinations Commission and the other by teachers.

Minister Jan O'Sullivan says ultimately it will be her decision to proceed with the reforms.
