Newry native and energy exploration entrepreneur Tommy O'Gorman confirmed yesterday that he bought the 1200 acre estate between Urlingford and Thurles.
According to a report in today's Irish Examiner, Mr O'Gorman bought the Tipperary property last year for 2.1 million euro.
He subsequently spent a further €1.5 million in buying back the freehold on 950 acres of forestry from Coillte.
Kilcooley Estate, near Urlingford, had previously been sold back in 2008 by the Ponsonby family to the McCann-family company Castleway International for development, for about €6 million.
