Doubt has been cast over next year's Nenagh Cycle Classic.
The date for the 2017 event, which has been held for several years and provides a large financial boost to the town, is not suitable and there are fears the entire race could be cancelled.
The issue was raised at the monthly meeting of Nenagh Municipal District where senior officials said they are in discussions with Cycle Ireland and the Munster branch of the organisation to try to come to a resolution
Local Independent Councillor Hughie McGrath says it would be a heavy blow if the town were to lose the race
