County Council gets funding to improve water quality

Local Government Minister Simon Coveney has included it in a national tranche of over €14.5 million.

The block and scheme-based grant allocations are aimed primarily towards the improvement of water quality in existing group water schemes.

They also facilitate the takeover of some schemes by Irish Water and upgrading & water conservation works in group water scheme distribution networks.

The allocation to Tipperary County Council this year from the department totals €308,165.

This is broken down to nearly €280,000 in the block allocation while a further €10,000 has been forthcoming under Measure 4 of the Scheme Specific Allocations with €18,000 under Measure 5.

In all the scheme-based allocations will fund almost 119 schemes and projects across the country and benefit over 12,500 households
