County Council Cathaoirleach says South Tipp General Hospital has to be a priority

The need for South Tipperary General to be a priority for the Government is being highlighted.

The Clonmel hospital has been one of the most overcrowded in the country throughout this year according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin visited the facility last week during a tour of the Tipperary constituency.

He was brought up to speed on the immediate need for increased capacity in tandem with the planned patient hotel for the hospital on the Western Road.

Speaking on Tipp Today Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council Siobhán Ambrose said Deputy Martin will also be pushing to ensure South Tipp General is near the top of Minister Simon Harris' Capital Investment Plan.
