The local authority is currently looking at ways of using more environmentally friendly lighting in towns and villages across the county.
The issue was raised at the recent meeting of the Templemore Thurles municipal district where Fianna Fail's John Hogan called for more renewable energy to be incorporated into public services.
Councillor Hogan says it doesn't have to cost more money.
