Fianna Fail representatives on Tipperary County Council are to meet this morning to discuss the recent events surrounding Michael Smith's election as Cathaoirleach of the Templemore-Thurles municipal district.
Councillor Smith went against his party colleagues at the first meeting of the area and voted for himself to lead the local authority, despite other Fianna Fail representatives nominating John Hogan.
Michael Smith aligned himself with an Independent – Sinn Fein pact to gain control of the Municipal District.
All 10 Fianna Fail councillors on Tipp County Council are to meet in Horse and Jockey at 11am to discuss the situation and whether or not to remove the party whip from Councillor Smith.
