Construction Industry Federation seeks reduction in building costs

The Construction Industry Federation is again calling for the cost of building to be brought down.

It comes off the back of the latest report from Daft.ie which has found the average rent has now reached an all-time high of 1,077 euro.

It's the largest annual increase ever recorded by the property website, since their reports began in 2002.

The average in Tipperary is now over 660 euro – up almost 18% from their lowest point and an increase of over 6% since last year.

Tom Parlon of CIF says while efforts have been made to deal with the issue – rents won't come down until we increase housing supply.
