26-year-old Ross Outram of Ferryland, Waterford Road, Clonmel's accused of killing pensioner Paddy Lyons in Waterford.
He made his second appearance in Dungarvan district court earlier today.
The 26-year-old has been charged with murdering 90-year-old Paddy Lyons at his home near Ballysaggart in west Waterford between the 24th and 25th of last month.
Mr Outram was arrested last Monday week in Clonmel and, after questioning, charged with the offence the following night.
He was initially brought before Dungarvan district court last Wednesday and remanded in custody.
Inspector Larry Sheahan asked in court today for more time for the preparation of a Book of Evidence.
Eamonn Hayes, solicitor for the accused, said a remand for 30 days would be by consent.
Judge Terence Finn remanded Outram in custody until April 5, to appear again before Dungarvan district court, for service of the Book of Evidence.
