Children’s charity CEO backs South Tipp GPs on Under 6 Scheme

Fewer that 20% of GPs in South Tipp are taking part in the programme which became active yesterday…..the lowest uptake in the country.

Doctors claim the provision of free GP visits for all children under the age of 6 will lead to longer waits to see your local doctor with shorter consultation periods as well as result in increased use of A&E departments and paediatric units.

CEO of the Jack & Jill Foundation Jonathan Irwin attended a public information meeting organised by the South Tipp GP Group in Clonmel yesterday where he claimed the scheme had not been properly thought through.
