Gardai are being praised for their quick action in preventing what could have been a serious incident in Cashel.
It happened shortly before 3 o'clock during yesterdays St Patrick's Day festivities in the town.
The Parade was making it's way along Lower Green towards Boherclough Street when a car is understood to have ignored a Garda cordon and drove against the parade route.
Children taking part in the event are said to have had to run out of the cars path – two Gardai gave chase on foot and stopped the car.
A man and a woman in their 20's were subsequently arrested and are still being detained at Cahir Garda station.
