Senior council officials have rejected calls for night time patrols to try and curb fly tipping and other dumping in Tipperary.
Councillors across the Premier have raised the issue over successive months claiming that the problem is increasing and the culprits aren't being caught.
They are demanding an increase in littler wardens and other deterrents such as increased CCTV and patrols carried out at specific locations during the night.
However ruling this out Director of Services for Environment Matt Short says the illegal dumpers are being caught and prosecuted effectively
He says the county isn't unique in terms of fly tipping and other illegal dumpers.
Matt Short has rejected claims that the problem is widespread, insisting the problem is confined to a number of individuals and the authority prosecutes in full.
