Currently South Tipperary General provides free parking for an hour for such patients while there's no charge in Limerick but only a designated area can be used.
The issue was raised at the November meeting of the Regional Health Forum where Tipperary Sinn Fein Councillor David Doran called for a unified system across the country.
He feels the current set up is adding unnecessary stress to people who are already trying to cope with a serious illness.
