Call for intervention on Nenagh Arts Centre closure

The Arts Minister is being asked to step in to save Nenagh Arts Centre from what appears to be imminent closure.

The board of the centre on Banba Square have decided they cannot continue to operate due to its liabilities.

As a result they have unanimously passed a resolution to put the company into liquidation.

A statement on the Nenagh Arts Centre website says the decision is a direct result of not being able to reach agreement with the contractor as to the final amount for the refurbishment of the facility.

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath says something has to be done to keep the centre open.
