Cahill says work needed at grassroots level to agree Government

Jackie Cahill was speaking after the Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party rejected the offer from Fine Gael of an equal partnership government.

Responding to the news Enda Kenny said the decision was a “serious mistake” driven by “narrow party interests rather than the public interest”.

Thurles-based Deputy Cahill says that while the only stable government would appear to be a combination of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael his party's pre-election promises need to be honoured.

With the Dáil set to sit again next week, Jackie Cahill says he will have to discuss the situation with Fianna Fail members in Tipperary.
