Bonus payment for Tipperary social welfare recipients

The restoration of the Christmas Bonus to 75% of the weekly payment was one of the measures announced in October's budget.

The payments, which will be made this week, are due to long term social welfare recipients.

In Tipperary over 16,000 people on a state pension will benefit, along with close to 9,000 jobseekers, 3,000 carers and 5,200 people on disability allowance.

Minister for Labour Activation Kevin Humphreys says it will be a welcome boost at this time of year.
