The BBC presenter Vanessa Feltz has described a column on the gender pay gap by Kevin Myers as blatant racism.
The Sunday Times has sacked Myers with the newspaper saying he won’t write again for its Irish outlet.
The article’s received global criticism – with Chelsea Clinton among many who have shared the story online.
The Guardian’s Roy Greenslade says while commentators are hired for their opinions – Myers went too far this time.
